Mrs. Jennie Linder, the wife of Wallace Linder, passed away at 3:45 o’clock this morning at the residence on South Washington Street. She was taken ill with the grip several weeks ago and it developed into pneumonia. Her condition was very alarming at times last week, but on Monday the patient rallied, giving the anxious watchers much encouragement. Yesterday, however, she suffered a relapse and grew rapidly worse until nearly dawn this morning, when she passed peacefully away. The deceased was the daughter of the late James Vanarsdall and was born in this city July 15, 1855. She was married April 29, 1880 to Wallace Linder, who survives her together with one son, Will. Mrs. Linder was a devout Christian woman and for 20 years past had been an active worker in the First Methodist Church. She belonged also to the Women’s Relief Corps, the 20th Century Club and the Art Needle Work club. She enjoyed the esteem and respect of the entire community to a high degree and the death occasions the most profound sorrow. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday by Rev. SW Goss and friends desiring to view the remains can do so up to that hour. The burial will take place at Oak Hill. – transcribed by kbz

The funeral of Mrs. Jennie Linder will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. and on account of the serious illness of Mrs. Vanarsdall, it will be of a private nature only the most intimate friends being expected. Friends desiring to view the remains can do so, however, up to one o’clock Friday.

The many friends of Mrs. Wallace Linder were profoundly shocked to learn Wednesday of her death, which occurred at a quarter to 4 o’clock. She had been sick less than two weeks, being taken ill with pleuro pneumonia a week ago last Thursday, but the first of this week it was realized that her condition was critical. The funeral will be held from the home on South Washington Street this afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. S. W. Goss, pastor of First M. E. Church. The interment will be at Oak Hill. Friends desiring to view the remains can do so until this afternoon at one o’clock. Jennie Vanarsdall was born in this city July 15, 1855, and was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Vanarsdall. Her father died in 1894, and her only sister a short time before, her mother being the only surviving member of the family. She was married to Wallace Linder April 29, 1880, and to this union was born one son, William, who with his father survives.
Mrs. Linder had been a member of the Methodist Church for over twenty years, and her life was characterized by a daily living up to the standards of Christianity. She was an affectionate and loving wife and mother and her husband and son have the sympathy of all in their affliction.
Mrs. Linder was a member of the Twentieth Century Club, Tribe of Ben-Hur, Art Needle Work League and the W. R. C. She had always been prominent in works of charity and her life was full of good deeds that will now reap the reward of the good servant. – thanks to S for this one
